Despacito is a hit song from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi along with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. The song became the number streaming music of that in just six months. This blend of reggaeton and pop music not only brought attention back to the genre, but also to Latin music generally. In 2015, there were only two predominantly Spanish-language tracks on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017 however 19 predominantly Spanish songs made it to the Top 100 for 2020. there were 41 of them. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix of Despacito (2017) the most well-known musicians soon began collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake together with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna along with Maluma with Maluma on Medellin (2019). Reggaeton's most prominent performers were unhappy about the trend toward mainstream music in the year 2020. But a new group, Rauw alejandro, was trying to change the course. In his music, he often used elements from electronic dance music, and various other genres.
