Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post and the CEO of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an writer, journalist, TV host and the owner of The Huffington Post. When she moved into England from Greece at the age of 16 She earned an MA in Economics at Cambridge University. As the first non-English speaking student, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. After graduation she made her name as an editorialist for the conservative syndicate and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed an online voice platform that provided critical views regarding the state of affairs. The fame of Arianna helped in attracting several famous contributors. Arianna's fame started in 2003, after she was a candidate for an independent in the California recall vote in order to replace the then governor Davis. Alongside this, she led an Detroit project that promoted the use of fuel-efficient cars. Her name was voted as the most Popular Women in Media by Forbes in 2009, gaining the 12th spot on that list. That same year Guardian included her in the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she was named president of this media group. The acquisition included a number of AOL properties of that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she had a close relationship with her father, the relationship she had to her mom shaped the remainder of her life. She displayed leadership qualities even in her early years. In the year she turned 16, she moved from America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college, she joined the debating society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. In 1972, her Master's in Economics was awarded. After her graduation she became a columnist, critic and a host on TV. The appearance she made in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also notable.
